About Us

Robert Bruce

Cofounder and Director of the Enneagram Academy

Robert is cofounder and director of the Enneagram Academy. He has been facilitating Enneagram workshops and training sessions for over fifteen years. Time flies!! He has undertaken extensive training with Don Riso and Russ Hudson of the Enneagram Institute in the US. He has also explored deeply the work of Jung and other Jungians including Joseph Campbell and Robert Johnson. He has incorporated much of this work into the Enneagram workshops. He feels it is invaluable in developing a deeper understanding of the Enneagram types and the impact of the shadow and the unconscious on the behaviour of the types.

He continues to be amazed at the insights the Enneagram provides for himself and for others. He has been deeply involved in personal and spiritual development for more than twenty years and he believes the Enneagram stands out as some of the most insightful work he has done. He has been inspired by the profound work of Don Riso and Russ Hudson whose writing and teaching have provided such a wonderful platform for psychological and spiritual development.

Robert is a board member of the Enneagram Prison Project in Australia.

Mackayla Chalmers

Cofounder of the Enneagram Academy

Mackayla has a deep knowledge of the Enneagram and has co-facilitated many workshops with the Enneagram Academy over the past 15 years. She has developed a unique inquiry process which embraces the Enneagram personality types combined with other modalities such as music, creative art expression and practices in holding space.

Mackayla invites others to bring awareness to limiting beliefs by creating and holding a safe space for guided exploration. She is particularly interested in the Passions and recognising what a profound and limiting influence they have on our lives.

Mackayla also offers sessions for women individually or in small groups.

“Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others.”

Andrée Evans

Andrée is a Counselling Psychologist with a longstanding interest in personality type as a path to personal growth and understanding. Her initial exploration of the Enneagram was very much a personal one. In contrast to some other typologies, the Enneagram proved to be dynamic and hopeful – offering profound insights and concrete directions for growth. These days Andrée enjoys sharing the Enneagram with individuals, couples and groups as a rich map for understanding not just self but others.

Andrée has a private practice on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria and sees a wide range of adults, adolescents and couples.

Chad Beckett

Chad has a background in drama and performance. He explored deeply the similarities between traditional Japanese performing arts and modern day movement modalities. He has run many workshops in movement and voice and is a pioneer in developing new ways to fully embody our voice and body through increased awareness.

Chad has a deep knowledge of the Enneagram and has co-facilitated many workshops with the Enneagram Academy. He is particularly interested in the way different types express themselves in movement and how our emotional states manifest in the body.

Brendan Mulhall

Brendan's passion for the Enneagram is derived from a career in providing management training and consultancy services since the 80s. This work focused on facilitating a diverse range of groups involved in organisational change and reform. Brendan has qualifications and a background in Psychology and Human Resource Management and have been using popular personality inventories such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, DiSC and Team Management Systems for over 25 years. It wasn’t until he came across the Enneagram 14 years ago that Brendan found a tool that not only provided a precise and rich map of human diversity, but could be used as a guide for human spirituality and transformation. It has helped him with his own personal journey and provided an amazing and insightful framework for understanding and overcoming personal unconscious barriers, improve relationships and lead a more fulfilling life.

Brendan became a certified Enneagram teacher in 2013 and has enjoyed facilitating workshops using this wonderful process since. He also shares his passion for teaching mindfulness techniques, and is a long time Vipassana meditator and qualified yoga instructor.

Kate McCandless

Kate is the founder and managing director of an integrative health clinic in Melbourne. Kate began her exploration of the Enneagram over 15 years ago.  Using the Enneagram, she could see how she, and her clients, could move beyond reactive behavioural patterns to a healthier, and more fulfilling life.

She has completed Parts 1-3 of the Enneagram Academy training program and is now an accredited teacher with the Academy.

She recently completed a Year Long Enneagram Certification Program in Conscious Living under the supervision of Russ Hudson and Jessica Dibb. During this program, Kate recognised the instinctual subtypes as being a profound influence on the way we behave. More importantly, she realised they were an important key to know where to direct attention to bring about real life changes and mind-body-spirit wellness.

To take this work further, Kate is developing a series of videoed type-panels to explore the instinctual subtypes and their importance for wellness.

She is currently completing her facilitator training with the International Enneagram Academy (IEA) 2022-2023.
